<h1>JMRI: RG-1965 Signaling Definition</h1>
<p>This directory contains signaling definitions corresponding to the 1965 Rio Grande rules
as published in the 1965 version of the "Rio Grande Rules of the Operating Department", cited
by Frank Keller in his article Rio Grande Signals - Prototype & Model, published in The
Prospector volume 2, number 1 2003 by the <a href="http://rgmhs.drgw.org">Rio Grande Modeling
and Historical Society</a>.</p>
<p>Remarks:</p>
<ul>
<li>Interlocking signals have been named -abs in this definition (no markers on mast).</li>
<li>The Rio Grande used the term "Positive" for an Absolute signal, marked with a round
badge carrying the letter P.</li>
<li>CTC & ABS signals are grouped as -pbs with Stop & Proceed as the most restricting
aspect.</li>
<li>Although there is no official Stop aspect for a Double head Interlocking dwarf signal
in the 1965 Rule Book, an unofficial red-red indication has been added.</li>
</ul>
<p>Compatibility:</p>
<ul>
<li>Some special .GIF icon files are included to help the user address known issues:
rule-282.gif is the default animated icon that works fine in JMRI 3.2 but doesn't show as
an aspect on a panel with JMRI 2.14.1 on Mac OSX 10.5.8 (Java 1.5). rule-282-1.gif and
rule-282-2.gif are the 2 files used to create the animated gif rule-282.gif</li>
<li>The Digitrax SE8c signal decoder does not support the Lunar aspect used in the
Restricting appearance (rule 290). Replacing the word "lunar" by "dark" in your copies of
the appearance xml files is a fix.</li>
<li>For older systems limited to Java 1.5 and JMRI 2.14.1 a static icon rule-282-b.gif is
included in each aspect icon folder under
JMRI/resources/icons/smallschematics/aspects/RG-1965/SL-x-etc/ which can be renamed to
rule-282.gif</li>
<li>If preferred, one could overrule the icons in the application's resource folder as
described in the <a href=
"http://jmri.org/help/en/html/tools/signaling/DefineNewAspects.shtml">Signal
documentation</a>.
</li>
</ul>
<p>See the <a href="aspects.xml">aspect page</a>.</p>
